Pattern Toss and collecting data

Yesterday we did an experiment in Math.
We tossed different patteren blocks to see how they would land.
They have to land on either an edge or their flat side.
We guessed our end results,
Then
We tossed and tallied.

If you toss only 2 times... it could be 50/50
or it could be edge and edge....
we learned the more you tossed the more accurate your data will be!

Then we collected everyone's data and compiled it into a data chart today.

We had 4 shapes.
trapezoid
hexagon
triangle
square

then we also taped 3 together to have:
3 trapezoids
3 hexagons
3 triangles
3 squares

Here is our data chart:

Then we took it one step deeper....
what if we taped more sets of 3 together... the "edge" surface space would increase
BUT
the flat surface space will stay the same.

Math can be so fun!

Leader In Me

Habit 2:
Begin with the end in mind.

"Teachers open the door,
BUT
YOU must walk through it
yourself."

Social Studies assignment

Everyone filled out a paper that looks like this today:

(sorry, I can't turn it for some reason!)

It is worth 12 points:
You need to have 4 complete full sentenes telling me 4 things that you learned from
Chapter 1 in Social Studies.
Draw a picture for each complete sentence,
Color each picture.

Due Tuesday 10/20/15 in the morning into the tray!

Great work!
