March 28 and April 11
Hello parents.

I hope you were able to attend the Good Friday Service today. It was incredible.

Here is the newsletter for next week which is only 3 day (Monday and Friday off) and the week after we return from our Spring Break.

I informed the students today that my children had off yesterday and today for Spring Break and they have ALL of next week. I have decided to take off our 3 days next week to enjoy some family time. Mrs. Falcon will cover my class on Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs. Noble will be with the class on Thursday.

We had a wonderful week.

I sent home the NWEA student progress report on Monday in the Monday Folders.

Attached you will find the Lexile level to AR level chart. You can use this to convert the lexile level reading range that is listed on the NWEA report under Reading. (It is highlighted in gray on the left hand side of the paper around the middle of the page).
This is a great chart to understand the level better.

Hello parents,

We had another fantastic week. It ended with a great multiplication playoff challenge outside. This was a great way to take advantage of the wonderful spring like weather.

We are ready for IREAD. We have taken two practice IREAD tests. It will be a breeze. We havn't been told which day we are taking the test so lets be ready and prepared with plenty of rest and a good breakfast eveyday.

What a fantastic week!

Everybody Counts, The Children's Museum and wonderful weather on Friday.

Just another note, from a mother and the person who does the laundry at my house.... please be aware of the possiblity of foil stickers on the clothing that children wore to school on Friday (red/pink shirts possibly). They were given stickers from someone during the day (outside of my class) and many of the students placed them on their shirts. I know from personal experience that many stickers have ruined clothes at our house after being washed and then dried in the dryer. : >

Hello parents,

What a week!

Next week is Catholic Schools Week.

We will not have class on Wednesday in order to celebrate the life of our dear Mrs. Vesper.

Due to this last minute change we are not sure if we will be having our NWEA Math test next week. We might be able to do it some other time instead of our usual Wednesday. Please be patient with us as we shift our schedules.

Please continue to pray for Mrs. Swartz's family, all students/staff/community members at Park Tudor, Amy Beverland and IHM who are ALL morning the loss of their leaders. I know personally my own children need prays. This is a very hard time for all. Let's pray that everyone will feel God's love at this time.

Hello parents, Welcome to Advent at IHM,

This is long, my apologies. Come back to it if you don't have time. (It's not time critical!)

First, we had an annoucement in our class today that was exciting....

Christmas Concert Program Cover Contest

Good job! I am so proud of ALL my students who turned in a form! This is fantastic for these 5 students!! Way to go Julia for winning!!!!!

This week we talked about the wonderful season of advent.

They both have a very catchy tune and a great message. We also talked about "Jesus is the reason for the season".

We had a lot of FUN in Math and created many different projects. Ask your child about our

(1) huge Math Times Table we are creating with Multiplication Arrays (it's on the back table currently.... once complete, I will take a picture and place it on our BLOG.), their (2) City Array to add to our urban portion of the room

(3)& their M&M Multiplication Array project.

We also have rearranged our desks into suburbs. Each suburb has been given a Leader In Me Name. Together these suburbs create a suburan area. My desk is the urban office buidings, the computer table is the finance center of the urban area and we also have a huge Urban library and Postal system. The rural area is in the hallway. (Thanks to the fourth graders for adding a manager scene right infront of our door with even 3D animals... perfect time for our rural discussion. : > )

Pictures of these additions to our room soon to come to the BLOG next week.

I hope all students understand the Community Project with my classroom instructions, grading rubric & full page instructions with example pictures. If there are any questions, pleases feel free to contact me. I am glad to answer any questions. I sent home a lot of construction paper today with students to help start the work! They may turn their projects in anytime they feel it's completed with their best work! It must be turned in by 12/17 for a grade. This is replacing a test. Yippeee!!! : > I think most kids are really excited about this!

On my newsletter, I mention Christ Kindle during Religion. this good deed project will take place the week of 12-14-15. I will send home the details Thursday or Friday this week, after we "draw the secret name" I have the papers already printed but will share the paper with your electronically now, incase you are curious as to what is all involved. No major planning is required but so you know what is coming your way soon. : >

Here is my newsletter a little early.

next Tuesday November 24 my class can wear pajamas to school! (Make sure it is school appropriate) This is an award from Mrs. Kleinschmidt, in Art! She picked the best class... and it was OURS to receive an award! We voted and picked PJs and a cartoon during Art class! Way to go 3F! Congratulations!

Mass is next Thursday, Nov. 12th, NOT Friday.

Semper Fi Fund is our offereing donations.

I am looking for some donations of vegetables, potatoes & broth in CANS. We need cans/food for both Math and Language Arts next week. Just one or 2 per child would be great. THIS week (preferably Mon or Tues)! We will either eat them in class or donate them to the food bank.

Hello parents,

Here is my newsletter for next week!

Please keep my students safe trick or treating. I know they are very excited about this weekend.

For the 2nd 9 weeks there are a few new additions to our class:

1. Papers are due the day they are assigned (unless noted on our assignment sheets) OR the next morning. Students are allowed to take most papers home to check or finish as homework.

If they are not in the tray in the next morning they are LATE! I will take a POINT off each day it is late!

2. No more shorts till Spring.

3. We will soon start spending our Feltman Fun money.

4. Our Math Leveling and Reading leveled groups will continue.

I talked to some parents about this during Conferences. I currently have 3 different levels for Math and also three different levels for Reading. The Math groups are reevaluated at the beginning of every Math Chapter. The groups are formed based upon the pretest evaluations that I administer.

Continue to check my blog. More great pictures to come sometime this weekend.

Please make sure that children are bringing sweatshirts, coats or jackets to school.

I do tend to keep my room chilly. They may leave a light jacket or sweater in their locker if they wish, (if okay with parents).

Don't forget to study Math facts with your child.
